Malcolm McIvor Prize 2026

Awards - 01-04-2026

Malcolm McIvor was one of the key people in ICI who helped establish CPACT in 1997 and played a prominent role in PhD supervision during the early stages of CPACT’s activities.

Malcolm enjoyed his engagement with CPACT and had generously endowed a prize that he wished to be awarded annually to a postgraduate student or early career researcher (within 3 years of a PhD) at a CPACT university/institute or member company in recognition of that researchers achievement in process analytics and control technologies. The prize will seek to recognise an individual’s excellence in terms of academic achievement, creative thinking or engagement between academia and industry. The value of the prize will be £1,000.

The representatives of the CPACT universities and member companies are now invited to nominate candidates for the 2026 award.  They should provide the following information for each candidate:

1. CV of the candidate (no more than 3 pages)
2. A one-page summary from the candidate on their research contributions in any topic related to process analytics and control technologies.
3. A one-page testimonial from the supervisor. This should highlight any significant engagement the student has had with industry or other end-user organisations and how this has influenced the progression of his/her research.
4. A letter of support from an individual not directly involved in the supervision of the student but knowledgeable of their research endeavours. This could be someone from industry, an international colleague or the Head of the Department if not the supervisor.

Nominations should be sent to Natalie Kerr (natalie.kerr@strath.ac.uk) as pdf attachment by Friday 29th May 2026. The decision will be announced in July 2026.
